Top Engagement Ring Trends for 2023!

Top Engagement Ring Trends for 2023!

New year, new RING!

At HOWARD, we’re obsessed with all things engagement, and entering a new year means discovering the latest engagement ring trends to fall in love with! That being said, “trends” for engagement rings do tend to move on a slower, more subtle track and don‘t last for just one season. The trending styles are diverse and range from timeless classics, to modern interpretations, and unique one-of-a-kind pieces. In our opinion, as long as you’re head over heels for your ring, it will never go out of style! If you’re ready to take the next step in your relationship, but are stuck on where to start, it can be helpful to begin with finding designs that resonate best with your own personal style!

Whether you choose to shop together or leave it in the hands of your partner (p.s. it doesn’t hurt to drop a hint!), we believe you should always end up with your dream ring!

Check out our list of the Top 2023 Engagement Ring Trends that will make you want to say “YES!”

1. “One-of-a-Kind”: Bespoke & Custom Design

There is a magnetism towards individuality, and couples looking to get engaged are often opting for bespoke, custom designed engagement rings, or styles that are fully customizable. Traditional engagement ring styles are by no means on the decline, however, a large portion of proposers enjoy the freedom of being able to get involved in the custom process and creating unique, one-off styles. This is often starting by choosing your perfect stone, precious metal and all the design details in between. Custom design allows people to connect on a deeper level with their piece, and find the joy in discovery.

2. The Single Stone Impact: Solitaire Engagement Rings

It doesn't quite feel right to call a solitaire style a trend (they really are as classic as it gets!). However, modern updates to classic looks will become more sought after this year. Think hidden halos, bezel settings, and double prongs to name a few. Perhaps, choose one of the most edgy trends for your solitaire: a chic east-west setting that flips elongated stones horizontally! As far as shapes go, round and oval still reign supreme, with the emerald cut not far behind in popularity.

3. The Bezel Setting

For those unfamiliar with bezel ring settings, a bezel consists of a thin metal rim that surrounds the outside of your stone. If you are looking for the most protective setting for your diamond, the bezel setting is right for you! The bezel setting offers a sleek and modern update to a traditional solitaire engagement ring, while maintaining its timeless characteristics. Often seen on emerald, asscher, and radiant cut diamonds, bezel settings look beautiful on rounder shaped diamonds like the classic round, oval, and cushion cuts!

For an edgy and unique choice, consider an east-west bezel (or half bezel!) set marquise diamond!

4. Colour Story: Coloured Diamonds & Gemstones

Coloured stones are having a moment in 2023 and will be going strong for a long time! Why not pick something bright and bold to represent your love story! One of the main appeals of coloured diamonds and gemstones is that each stone will have its own distinctive character. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s second engagement ring arguably put green diamonds on the map! But, if green isn’t your colour, choose from yellow, orange, pink, blue, and more!

5. Yellow Gold & Mixed Metal Settings

Yellow gold has become increasingly popular and if you’re stuck on choosing white gold or platinum to ensure your diamond pops to its full potential - why not have both! Mixed metal settings are trending more and more and here are two great reasons why:

1. Setting your diamonds in a white metal allows for them to pop against a yellow gold band! Hello - the best of both worlds!

2. You can easily mix and match your bridal set and alternate between white and yellow gold rings as you please.
